What is a sign transit?
A sign transit (or 'ingress') happens when a planet's position moves from one zodiac sign into the next, roughly every 30° of its path around the ecliptic. In Vedic astrology this matters because a planet's effects — the areas of life it influences — shift with the house and sign it occupies. Fast-moving planets like Mercury and Venus change signs every few weeks; slow ones like Saturn can stay in a single sign for over two years, making each of its ingresses a significant, longer-lasting shift.
